**EVELYN MARIE GRAY SESSUMS**
Bellville Times Sessums Evelyn Marie (Gray) Sessums was born Jan. 15, 1930, in Austin County, the daughter of Andrew Boyd and Mary (Spence) Gray. She lived in Bellville, Austin County and throughout the United States of America and the Philippines and attended schools in Bellville and University of Texas Medical Branch School of Nursing. A Methodist by faith, Evelyn was united in marriage with John Valton Sessums, Jr., on Dec. 22, 1951, in Bellville. She and John pursued their love in the medical field, John as a doctor and Evelyn as a nurse. She enjoyed golfing, shopping, reading and cookbooks. Evelyn was an avid member of the Bellville Ladies Golf Association, Bellville Garden Club and the Nurse’s Association. She was an active member of the Bellville United Methodist Church. Evelyn passed away on Monday, Aug. 11, 2008, in Bellville at the age of 78. She is survived by her son John (Trey) Sessums III of Bellville, cousin, Ethel (Gray) Smith of Bellville, special friend Cleide Leedy of Bellville. Also surviving Evelyn was a host of other family and friends. Evelyn is preceded in death by parents and her husband. Pallbearers were Dan Leedy, Charlie Smith, Jamie Krupala, Ronnie Muery, Andy Felchak and Roger Williams. The funeral service was at 10 a.m., Friday, Aug. 15, 2008 at the Schmidt Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Robert Stutes, officiating. Interment was at Oak Knoll Cemetery in Bellville. In lieu of usual remembrances friend who wish, may make memorial gifts to the Bellville United Methodist Church, 234 South Masonic, Bellville, Texas 77418, or to the Bellville General Hospital, PO Box 977, Bellville, Texas 77418, or to the Austin County Habitat for Humanity, PO Box 1013, Bellville, Texas 77418.
