Julius Milton “Poppy” Shedd, Jr. was born September 28, 1930, in Hattiesburg, Miss., the son of
Julius Milton, Sr. and Grace (Smith) Shedd.
He grew up and attended school in Hattiesburg.
After high school, Julius served his country in the United States Navy.
Julius was united in marriage to Miss Julia “Judy” Hall on May 29, 1958 in Houston.. They made
their home in Houston until 1965, before moving to Splendora.
In 1978, Julius and Judy moved to Bellville where Julius was a member of the Bellville Masonic
Lodge #223, AF&AM, and the First Baptist Church of Bellville.
He enjoyed hunting, target practice and guns, and was an active member of the Austin County Gun
Club.
Julius passed away Friday, Oct. 10, 2008, in Bellville at the age of 78.
He is survived by his sons: John Crawford Shedd and his wife, Ruth, and Charles Michael Shedd and
his fiancée, Terra Schubert; grandchildren: Blake, Tayler, Samantha Reshea, Stephanie Dana and Natalie Brooke Shedd; sister: Doris Wells, and best friend: Glen
Alexander. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other family and many friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Judy, in 1995, parents Julius, Sr.
and Grace Shedd, and sister Lillian McMurry.
Visitation was from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 12, 2008 at the Schmidt Funeral Home in
Bellville Texas.
The Funeral service was at 1:30 p.m., Monday,Oct. 13, 2008 at the Schmidt Funeral Home Chapel with
Reverend Steve Olsen, officiating.
Interment was at Oak Knoll Cemetery in Bellville.
Pallbearers were Zach Hicks, Keith Miller, Bob Meinhardt, Billy Armstrong, Glen Alexander, and Al
