Funeral services for Franklin C. Susen, 88, of Bellvillewere held Monday, Oct. 20, 2008 from Sts.
Peter and Paul Catholic Church with the Rev. Eric Pitre celebrating the funeral mass and rite of committal. Interment was in Susen Cemetery, Nelsonville.
Pallbearers were Christopher Susen, Colin Susen, Jonathon Gutierrez, Derrek Banks, Jimmy Marik and
Andy Felchak. Honorary Pallbearers were Byron Balke, Eugene Krenek, Bobby Lange, Gregg Lange, Glen Lange, Texas State Highway Department Employees and all
the kids (now adults) that knew him as Popo.
Franklin was the son of Willie and Mary (Schimara) Susen. He was raised in Bleiblerville and
attended Santa Anna Schools.
On Nov. 8, 1950 he was joined in marriage to the former Miss Joyce Krenek with a ceremony in
Industry. He served in the United States Army during WWII.
He was employed with Texas State Highway Department. After retirement from the Highway
Department he went to work for Lange’s part time. He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and SPJST Nelsonville-Bleiblerville Lodge.
Franklin passed away on Friday, Oct. 17, 2008 in Bellville.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Susen of Bellville, daughters, Bobbie Perez and husband John of
Houston and Mary Jane Gutierrez and husband David of Houston, sons, Samuel Wayne Susen and wife Gina of Bellville and Franklin Mark Susen of Washington, Illinois,
sister, Olga Fick of Bellville, sister-in-law, Clara Susen of Bleiblerville, grandchildren, Christopher Susen and wife Rachel, Kayla Susen, Colin Susen, Jonathon
Gutierrez and fiancée Edna Gomez, Amanda Gutierrez and fiancé Derrek Banks, Kaitlyn Gutierrez, step grandchildren, John Ryan Perez and wife Loraine, David Perez
and wife Bernadette, Rachel Wick and husband Paul, step great grandchildren, Mindy Schockmann, John Caleb Perez, Amelia Perez, Donovan Perez, Michaela Perez and
Olivia Wick.
He was preceded in death by his parents Willie and Mary Susen, sisters, Hermina Susen, Sadie
Schovajsa and brother, John Susen.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 936 South Front
