Thielemann

Funeral services for George  W. Thielemann, 97, of  Sealy, were held at 11 a.m.., Wednesday, July 15, 2008 at the First Methodist Church in Sealy with the Rev. John Tyler officiating.

Interment was at the Sealy Cemetery. Pallbearers were Troy, Todd, Hunter and Kaden Thielemann, Mark Hauerland and Ronald Ellerman. 

He was born to parents Otto and Julia Mahlmann Thielmann, was raised in Needville and attended Pleak Public School.

George married Pauline Klosterhoff in Needville on Nov. 7, 1935 and worked for Houston Light and Power Co. from 1943 till retirement in 1975 as Division Manager for the Sealy Division.

He was active in the Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts serving as Scout Master, Cub Master district chairman, member of various committee’s, David Crockett District and received District Awards of Merit and the Silver Beaver Badge served as Ranger at Camp Brosig Boy Scout Camp near Sealy.

He was Chairman of the Salvation Army for 8 years, worked with 4-H and FFA chapters in Fort Bend, Waller and Austin County receiving Honorary Chapter Farmers Award. George was past president of the Sealy Chamber of Commerce and the Sealy Rotary Club where he received the Paul Harris Award.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Sealy where he served on the Church board for 16 years and the Methodist Men’s Club. 

Survivors include, daughter and son-in-law, Paulette and Edward Hauerland of Crosby, son, Borden Thielemann of Sealy, grandchildren, Troy Thielemann and wife Judith, Todd Thielemann, Mark Hauerland and wife Staci, Cana and Marianna Hauerland, great grandchildren, Zachery, Mathew, Hunter, and Kaden Thielmann, sisters, Lillie Steffen of Rosenberg, Emma Will of Rosenberg, Hilda Brinkmeyer of Rosenberg, Marie Tormey of Pasadena and Gertrude Ellerman of Needville.

He was preceded in death by, parents, Otto and Julia Thielemann, wife, Pauline Thielemann, son, George Allen Thielemann, granddaughter, Christa Hauerland, brothers, Henry, Alfred and Robert Thielemann. 

Funeral services were held under the direction of Knesek Bros. Funeral Chapel in Sealy.
