Willard
Irene Marie (Schank) Willard, 76, passed away Wednesday, October 8, 2008 at The Methodist
Sugarland Hospital. Irene was born in Orchard, Texas toparents
Ray and Julia Blahuta Schank. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Ernest Willard, her
brother, Jerry Schank and his wife Shirley, daughter, Janet Eder and her husband Mike, son, Gary Willard and his wife Debbie, four grandchildren,
Blake and his wife Krysti and Brittany Eder and Amanda and Adam Willard, great grandchildren, Brooke and Julian Eder plus many relatives.
Irene was raised in the town of Orchard and soon after graduation from Orchard High
School she married Ernest Willard on July 26, 1952 in Rosenberg. Ernest was teaching school in Needville at the time. They lived there for about 5
years before moving to East Bernard. Irene was very active in the First United Methodist Church and she loved to cook, sew and work in the yard. She was
always canning fruits and vegetables from the garden that she and Ernest raised.
Visitation was at the First United Methodist Church, 421 Pietzsch, East Bernard, Texas 77435,
on Friday, October 10, 2008 from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m.
Funeral Services were held at the First United Methodist Church on Saturday, Oct. 11,
2008 at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Michael Holcomb officiating.
Interment was in the Methodist Cemetery in East Bernard.
The Family suggests that Memorial donations be made to The First United Methodist
