Cecil Edward Wondrash, Sr., 92, of Bellville, passed away Monday, Feb.y 18, 2008. Mr. Wondrash was born to Joe and Gardina (Struwe) Wondrash on November 19, 1915 in Caldwell, Texas. Later the Wondrash family relocated to Bellville, Tx. where Mr. Wondrash attended Bellville public schools. On Nov. 17, 1937 after returning to Caldwell, Cecil married Willie Mae Hudec. On February 20, 1939, their son, Cecil Edward Wondrash, Jr. was born, on March 8, 1941 their daughter Mary Frances was born and their youngest daughter, Beverly Jo was born on June 24, 1951. Cecil was employed by Wondrash Abstract Company in Caldwell until 1942 when he went to work for Santa Fe Railroad as a switchman. He was later promoted to the position of yardmaster before his retirement on July 9, 1976. He was a member of Railroad Yardmasters of America, a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Bellville Knights of Columbus Third Degree Counsel and Sealy Assembly Fourth Degree Counsel. He enjoyed attending KC meetings with his friends and participating in many Knights of Columbus activities. On Nov. 27, 2007, Cecil and Willie Mae celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary with family and friends. He enjoyed traveling after his retirement, working in the yard with his wife, and he was especially proud of and loved his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mr. Wondrash is survived by his wife of 70 years, Willie Mae Wondrash, his son, Cecil Edward Wondrash Jr. and wife, Catherine of East Bernard, daughter, Mary Frances McCulloch and husband, Don of Coldspring, daughter, Beverly Jo Greene and husband, Richard of Columbus, grandchildren, Kelley Kerlick and husband, Ray of Katy, David Wondrash and wife, Christi of East Bernard, Stephen Schubert of Round Rock, Melissa Kuper and husband, Mark of San Diego, California, John David McCulloch and wife, Kerri of Dallas, great grandchildren, Carly & Kasey Kerlick, Jacob and Allison Wondrash, Jonathan and Andrew Kuper, sister, Gardina Pargac of Caldwell, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph F. and Gardina (Struwe) Wondrash, brother, Stanley Wondrash. Family received friends on Thursday, Feb. 21, 2008 from 5 to 7 p.m. with a Knights of Columbus Rosary being cited at 6:30 p.m. Funeral Mass was celebrated Friday, Feb. 22, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. from Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with the Rev. Tim Bucek, officiating. Burial was in Oak Knoll Cemetery, Bellville. Serving as pallbearers were Knights of Columbus Third and Fourth Degree.
