Funeral Services for Vlasta Zettel, 89, of Nelsonville were held on Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2008 at 10 a.m. from
Nelsonville Brethren Church in Nelsonville with the Rev. Michael Groseclose officiating.
Interment followed in the National Cemetery in Nelsonville. Serving as pallbearers were Gary Shupak, Terry Shupak,
Michael Shupak, Ronald Shupak, Edwin Shupak, Jr. and Alfred Zettel, Jr.
Vlasta was born in Nelsonville to parents John and Mary (Sisa) Shupak. She was raised in Nelsonville and
attended school in Nelsonville.
Vlasta was baptized on Nov. 23, 1919 and confirmed by Rev. Anton Motycka at Nelsonville Church. She lived in
Houston from 1946 to 1960. Vlasta retired from the Bellville school cafeteria after 15 years of service. After retiring she went to work for Schovajsa Catering.
She was a member of the Nelsonville Brethren Church, Christian Sisters, Sunday school teacher and a BYF sponsor
since 1964. She was a member of the SPJST Lodge 201 of Nelsonville and a member of the Bleiblerville Fire Dept. She loved her family, grandchildren and great
grandchildren. She enjoyed her garden, flowers, baking, cooking and canning. She kept the cookie jar full for the grandchildren.
Vlasta is survived by her daughter, Jenell Zettel of Nelsonville, son, James Zettel and wife Sandra of Brenham,
brother, Elgin Shupak of Nelsonville, grandchildren, Angie Benitz and husband Michael, Susie King, R.C. King, Jeremy Zettel and Matthew Zettel, great
grandchildren, Brayden Benitz, Ashley King, Cody Brimer and Jessica Brimer.
Preceded in death by parents, John and Mary Shupak, husband, Charlie Zettel, daughter, Mary Ann King, brothers,
Ben, Willie and Edwin Shupak, infant sister, Marie Olga Shupak.
