Funeral Services for Kenneth R. Callaway, 89, of Wallis, 2 p.m. Saturday, May 8, 2010 at St. John Lutheran Church in Wallis with the Rev. Dale Leland officiating.

Interment in the Wallis City Cemetery. Pallbearers for the service are Steve Johnson, Ben Davis, Claude Stephens, Michael Callaway, Jonathan Callaway and Ken Dillon.

Kenneth Ray Callaway was born in Wylie, Texas to parents, Morris and Iva Callaway. On Sept. 22, 1945 Kenneth married his first wife Willie Mae and after her death he later married Louise on Nov. 23, 2002 in Bay City where he resided until his death on May 5, 2010.

Kenneth was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Wallis.

Mr. Callaway served his country during WWII and was one of the survivors of Pearl Harbor. The Military Honor Guard from Ft. Sam Houston folded and presented the United States Flag to his family.

He was a member of the American Legion Post #200 in Wallis where he served as Chaplain, 60 year member of the Masonic Grand Lodge of Texas in East Bernard, Bay City and Palacios where he served as Past Master. He worked at Duval Sulfur Company, Texas Industries and was water supervisor for the City of Wallis.

Kenneth R. Callaway is survived by his wife, Louise Callaway of Bay City, son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Pam Callaway of Wallis, daughter, Jean Callaway of Wallis, stepsons, Ben Davis of Lake Jackson and Jeff Davis of Bay City, stepdaughters, Janna Johnson and husband Steve of Bay City, Dianne Stephens and husband Claude of Bay City, Denise Frazier of Bay City and Karla Mansel of Sugarland, grandchildren Michael and Jonathan Callaway, Lynda Nastase and husband Steve, Alyssa Nastoupil and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Willie Mae Callaway, son Robert Callaway, Parents, Morris and Iva Callaway and sister, Dorothy Williams.
