DOLORES JANECEK COUFAL
Bellville Times Dolores was born to Edwin and Rose (Shiller) Janecek on Dec. 27, 1920 in the New Bremen Community. She grew up on the family farm and attended all grades in the New Bremen School. She was a member of the Nelsonville Brethern Church, but later joined the Industry Brethern Church and was a member of the Industry Brethern Christian Sisters. On Aug. 9, 1941 she married the love of her life Ben Coufal and they had 33 wonderful years together. She and BJ lived in Iraan, La Grange, and Port Arthur, where he taught school. They also lived in Coleman, Texas, while he served as a navigation instructor in the U.S. Army during World War II. In 1945 they settled in Bellville where BJ started his 28-year teaching and guidance counselor career with the Bellville Independent School District. She awarded many memorial scholarships to honor BJ and his love of students and teaching. She was an excellent homemaker and worked as a milliner specializing in bridal veils, hats, and wedding accessories. She served as a director for the local American Cancer Society and Oak Knoll Cemetery Association. She was a member and officer of the Bellville Professional Women�s Club. She served as a 4-H sponsor and member of the former Home Demonstration Club. She was a member of the Austin County Farm Bureau and AARP. Her favorite activity was serving as a volunteer with the Bellville Hospital Auxiliary where she has given over 5,000 hours during a span of over 35 years. She loved to deer-hunt, fish, travel, and polish rocks with BJ. She had several kitty cats for companions and a bevy of ring-necked doves who would sing or coo to her while sitting on her shoulder. She kept her own house, conducted her daily business activities, kept flowers on several cemetery plots, and drove herself around Austin and Washington counties until about 18 months ago. She spent her last 14 months residing at Rose Hill Retirement Home. She is survived by her nieces JJ Klesel and husband Mike of La Grange and Shirley Cmajdalka of Houston, and nephew Wal Jean Janecek and wife Mary Lou of Lake Jackson. She is also survived by 4 great-nieces, 3 great-nephews, several great-great nieces and nephews, and a great-great-great niece. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ben, nephew Alois Cmajdalka, brothers-in-law Ruben and Jerry Coufal, special friend John Machinsky, and sister by heart Osie Lock.
