Terry A. Grabow, 66, of Austin died suddenly at home on March 6, 2012.
Born Aug. 19, 1945, in Bellville to Wallis and Roma Grabow, he graduated from high school then the University
of Texas in Austin.
Terry and his wife, Alice, made music together for 25 years.
Passionate about reading obituaries, he loved reading how others lived. In his own words, I read them every
day and joke that I am making sure I am not in there so that I can go on about my day. I dont know most of the people, yet sometimes see someone I
know and am shocked to realize they were of dying age. Having spent a great deal of time pondering success, self-improvement and emphasis on being
successful, once the obituary phase is reached, just how successful does one feel? Trying to make sense of this, it occurs to me that the word success
is not about achievement but more about failure. Every person who lives and breathes has the right to get up, do whatever they do then repeat the
process, without being judged as successful or not. No matter how clever the obit (and some are simply wonderful), or how lame, these folks lived and
died and were successful! I just hope they somehow knew they measured up that in the final negotiations with their Maker, they did what all humans
dogot from birth to death. And while I have no idea how to say this, that aint all she wrote!
Terry is survived by Alice; children Blair, Morgan, Melissa, Art, and 9 grandchildren.
His celebration of life took place at St. Davids Episcopal Church at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 10. Posted by Joy Neely
