Patricia Helen Ricks Hendricks, 84, of Bellville, passed away Monday, July 16, 2012, at her home. 

Mrs. Hendricks was born March 13, 1928, in Temple, Texas.  The daughter of S.Y. and Sammie Ola Hunt Ricks, she grew up and attended school in Temple.

After graduating from Temple High School in 1945, she moved to Elgin, Texas where she met W.F. �Buddy� Hendricks in 1946.  Pat and Buddy were united in marriage Sept. 4, 1947, in Temple.

Pat was employed at Southwestern Bell while Buddy attended Southwest Texas State College. After Buddy finished Texas DPS School, they moved around as he worked for the Texas Highway Patrol, DPS Narcotics and as a Texas Ranger. 

In 1969, Pat went to work for Texas Parks and Wildlife, and retired after 20 years of service in 1989.

Buddy preceded Patricia in death in 2005.

In 2006, Pat moved to Bellville where she was a member of the Bellville United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Bellville General Hospital Auxiliary and the Red Hats.  She was a charter member of the Yegua Creek Evangelical Free Church in Elgin.

Pat took care in training her children and making sure they had a good spiritual foundation in the Methodist Church and an understanding of Judeo Christian principles. A devoted mother and grandmother, she stayed involved with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and treasured every moment that she was able to spend with them.

In the days prior to her passing, she expressed to her family her desire to have her suffering over and to depart and be with the Lord.  She will be dearly missed by her family and many close friends.

Pat is survived by her son Kelly Hendricks and his wife, Martha, of Humble; daughters Aline Horne and her husband, Ron, of Bellville, and Doris �Helen� van der Woude and her husband, Edward, of Murphy; grandchildren Hollie Davenport and her husband, Adam, Ethan Horne, John Horne and his wife, Lisa, Daniel Horne and his wife, Angela, Emily Horne, Christiana Horne, Ben Horne, Matthew Horne, Hannah Horne, Michael Horne, Juli Flowers and her husband, Silas, Dirk van der Woude and his wife, Rachel; great grandchildren Caleb, Briley, Reagan, Piper, Trinity, Kase, Nolan, Kaleb, Greysen and Emsley; and many other dear friends and family.  She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Friends called in Bellville Tuesday, July 17, 2012, from 5-7 p.m. at the Schmidt Funeral Home.  Funeral Service was Wednesday, July 18, 2012, at 11 a.m. with viewing from 10-11 a.m. at Elgin Providence/Jones Family Funeral Home located at 604 North Hwy. 95 in Elgin with Reverend Mark Nygard officiating.  Interment will follow in the Elgin Cemetery.
