Lonnie Mikeska, 89, of Bleiblerville passed away on Friday, Nov. 23, 2012 in Brenham.

He was born in Bleiblerville, to Frank Mikeska and Frances (Janes) Mikeska on April 29, 1923. He married May Taylor in England in 1945.

Lonnie spent his life in Austin County, and was known as a teaser. He loved raising cattle and enjoyed going to the auctions. He also had a love for travel, but it was by car, making for long but worthwhile trips. He was a member of the Nelsonville Brethren Church in Nelsonville. He served in the US Army with the 206th Engineer Combat Battalion during World War II.

Lonnie is survived by his wife May Mikeska of Bleiblerville. Daughter Judy Schulz and her husband Alvin, Jr. of Bleiblerville. Sons Gary Mikeska and wife Cathy of Austin and Steven Mikeska and fianc� Laurie Legere of Houston. Brother Pat Mikeska of Bleiblerville.

Grandchildren Dwayne Schulz, and wife Kerry, Danny Schulz and wife Candice, Darrel Schulz and special friend Lillian Hanley and her two children, Tammy Mikeska, Angela Englund and her husband James, Shane Mikeska, Brandon Mikeska and special friend Jamie Torres, Lauren Mikeska, Megan Mikeska and special friend Javier Rodriguez, Michale Mikeska, and Chelsea Mikeska.

Ten great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Lonnie was preceded in death by his parents, his sister in law Jean Mikeska, his mother and father in law and his brother and sister in law.

Visitation was Sunday, from 5-7 p.m., Friday, Nov. 25, 2012 at Knesek Bros Funeral Chapel in Bellville.

Funeral service was conducted at 2 p.m., Monday, Nov. 26, 2012 from the Nelsonville Brethren Church with Pastor Michael Groseclose officiating.

Interment followed in the National Cemetery in Nelsonville. Pallbearers where his grandsons Dwayne Schulz, Danny Schulz, Darrel Schulz, Shane Mikeska, Brandon Mikeska, Michale Mikeska, and his nephew Frank Mikeska. Honorary pallbearers were his nephews Kenneth Mikeska, and Glen Mikeska.

Memorial may be made to the Nelsonville Brethren Church, 332 Nelsonville Road, Nelsonville, Texas 77418.
