A journey begins and its path grows in ways we could never know. Mitchell Paul Northrup departed this life Aug. 29, 2012. He was 21 years old.

Mitchell was born Aug. 12, 1991, in Houston. The son of David and Lori Lee McCoy Northrup, he grew up in New Ulm.

A good student, he attended the West End schools where he participated in the Science Fairs and was a Cub Scout. He then attended Bellville High School.

After graduating from BHS in 2009, he attended Blinn College, graduating in 2011, where he was a member of Sigma Kappa Delta, an English Honor Society, and Mu Alpha Theta, a National Mathematics Honor Society. He was also a student at Texas A&M University.

Mitchell worked as a maintenance man for a golf course. He was an avid sports fan, he especially enjoyed baseball and football. He also loved hunting and fishing.

Mitchell leaves behind his father David Northrup and his wife, Lisa, of New Ulm; mother Lori Lee Lynn and her husband, Bobby, of Bellville; brother Hayden Northrup of Bellville; sisters Tommye Northrup, Taylar Northrup, and McKenzie Northrup, all of Bellville, and Lauren Northrup of Wharton. He is also survived by his grandparents Tom and Katie Northrup of New Ulm, Paul and Edy McCoy of Bellville, and Guy and Betty Humphrey of Richmond; step-brothers Ryan Barrett of New Ulm, and Austin Barrett of Baton Rouge, La.; step-sister Ariel Henderson of Bellville; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and many dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, C.M. and Marijane Ensminger and his uncle, Ray Bob Ensminger.

The memories we made with Mitchell have created a bond that will last forever.

Visitation was from 5-7 p.m., Friday, Aug. 31, 2012, at Schmidt Funeral Home in Bellville. Funeral service was 2 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012, at Christian Faith Church in Bellville. Interment followed in the Pilgrims Rest Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Mason Marek, Cameron Marek, Michael Ayala, Anthony Raeke, Mike Trevino and Michael Ferreira.
