Sidney C. Ralls, III, age 65, passed away unexpectedly Friday, July 13, 2012, as the result of a deadly fire at his home in Bellville.

Sid was born Dec. 4, 1946, to Sidney C. and Ruth Ann Ralls in Hobbs, NM.

He graduated from Lubbock high school in 1965.  Soon after, he joined the United States Marines Corps and spent his next two Christmases in Vietnam.  The rest of his tour was spent guarding the San Francisco Bay Naval Shipyard.

Sid was proud of his service in the Marine Corps defending his country, and our freedoms.  Equally important was his Native American heritage and tribal membership in the Choctaws of Oklahoma.

Upon returning to Lubbock, he attended Texas Tech, studying Business Admin.  From there he moved to Shreveport where he started his own medical durable goods business. 

Sid was very active in his community, as a Deacon and Adult Sunday School teacher in his church.  He was also president of the Shreveport Jaycees.  Since moving to Bellville, he joined the American Legion and VFW.  He also delivered Meals on Wheels.

He was predeceased by his parents, and is survived by his daughter, Molly Rebekah Ralls, of Bryan; and son, Joshua Harper Ralls and fianc�e, Jesse Smith, of Houston.  Also surviving him are the loves of his life, his grandchildren: Nicholas Andrew and Ansley Nichole, both of Bryan. They called him Amafo, Choctaw for grandfather. He also leaves his sister, Pat Feakes and husband, Lloyd, of Bellville; nephew, Steven Parker of Dawn, TX, and niece, Sabra Hill of Lebanon, OH.  

A memorial Service will be held at Bellville United Methodist Church, Wed., July 25 at 4:00 p.m.  The Rev. Robert Stutes will officiate.

Memorials may be made to Austin County Meals on Wheels, Disabled American Veterans or the Wounded Warrior Project.
