Merrill Andrew Schramm, 58, of New Ulm passed away on Oct. 9, 2012 in New Ulm.

He was born on June 15, 1954 to Leroy W. and Dorrace (Henkhaus) Schramm in Brenham. Merrill worked as a Soil Conservation Technician for USDA / NRCS. On May 31, 1980 he married Cecilia Dianna Zientek.

He was a faithful member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church where he also served as a communion minister, and helped with various fish fries and church organizations. Merrill was also a member of Knights of Columbus Council #5157 in Frelsburg, and commissioner and vice president of Austin County Farmers Mutual Fire Insurance. He was a very devoted husband and wonderful Dad to his children, and loving grandpa to his grandson.

Merrill is survived by his wife, Cecilia Dianna Schramm of New Ulm; mother, Dorrace Schramm of New Ulm; two daughters, Jaimie Emick and husband Harold of Frelsburg and Jackie K. Schramm of New Ulm; brother, Randy Schramm and wife Susan of Ment; grandson, Andrew William Emick of Frelsburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Leroy W. Schramm.

Funeral Mass was held on Friday, Oct. 12, 2012, at 10 a.m. at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Frelsburg with Fr. Wayne Flagg officiating along with two uncles, Monsignors Benedict Zientek and �Boli� Zientek. Music was performed during the Funeral Mass by the Sts. Peter and Paul church choir and a solo with acoustic guitar by Robert Zientek, brother-in-law.

Interment followed in Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery in Frelsburg. Pallbearers were Blake Schramm, Elbert Brune, Royce Dudensing, Allen Schubert, Dwayne Dvorak, Brad Kieschnick, Victor (Sputnik) Dvorak, Jr., and Ed Wilde. Honorary pallbearers were Lennard Henkhaus, Bill Henkhaus, Ralph Henkhaus, Jim Kubicek, Paul Michalsky and Al Gene Canik. At the burial, �Amazing Grace� was performed by brother-in-law, Robert Zientek on acoustic guitar, and by Merrill�s wife, Cecilia Schramm on accordion.
