Marjorie Harris Schultz, age 79, of Bellville passed away May 29, 2012 in Brenham.

Marjorie Harris Schultz was born in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. on June 15, 1932. She was the daughter of Gertrude Jane Harris and Clyde S. Harris.  She grew up in the then, one stop sign town, with her brother Sam L. Harris.

She graduated from Fort Lauderdale High School in 1950.  She was a member of the Senior Honor Society, Football Queen, Cheerleader, and was voted Most Popular among her graduating class.

From there, she pursued a Bachelor of Arts in Education from the University of Florida.  Her senior year, she served as the President of Chi Omega Sorority in 1954.  Upon graduation, she taught the 5th grade at Southwest Elementary in Fort Lauderdale for one year.

On Feb. 12, 1955, she married then 2d Lt. Gilbert J Schultz. For the next 20 years, she served as an Air Force wife and followed him to various locations such as Japan, The Philippines, and seven other stateside bases until his retirement in 1972. Throughout their Air Force career, she stood strong as her husband left for war, for months or a year at a time, and raised their children alone until he returned.

In 1972, the family moved to Bellville with their four children, a dog and three horses. She started the journey with just a picture of their future house and a few random photos of Bellville that Gilbert had sent. The epitome of an Air Force wife, she planted her feet firmly in the community and made Bellville her home for the remainder of her years.

In Bellville, Margie taught the 5th grade for six years at OBryant Elementary, was a member of Bellville United Methodist Church, and was a member of the Bluebonnet Society.
