Elgin Franklin Shupak was born May 25, 1925, in Nelsonville, the son of John and Mary Sisa Shupak.

He grew up and attended school in the Nelsonville community.

After school, Elgin worked on the farm helping take care of the home and family.  He enlisted into the United States Army in 1945, and served his country after the United States bombed Hiroshima.

After he was Honorably Discharged in 1946, he returned home and went back to work on the farm where he helped take care of his mother.  Elgin was employed with the Santa Fe Railroad for several years before going on to work as a sign man for The Texas Department of Transportation in 1957.

He retired from TxDot after 35 years of service.

Elgin was united in marriage to Evelyn Harbes, in September, 1991.

Elgin and Evelyn were members of the Nelsonville Brethren Church. They loved to travel to California, Montana, Colorado, Niagara Falls and numerous other places in the U.S., but Elgin always had to get back to his cattle that he knew by face and name.
