Joe Anton Sklar, 94, of Bellville, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at Bellville Regional Hospital, Bellville.  

Joe was born in Shelby, Texas on November 2, 1917, the son of the late Joe J. Sklar and Hermina (Pilcik) Sklar.  He married Ida Eckhoff on February 5, 1946 in Industry, Texas.  

Joe served in the U.S. Army during World War II.  He worked in Quality Control for Foley�s in Houston, Texas and retired after 28 years of service.  

He is survived by two daughters:  Maxine Sklar of Bellville, Texas, Gladys Mendiola and husband, Armando, of Humble,Texas; brother, John Sklar and wife, Dorothy, of Brenham, Texas; sister, Olivia Lane of Houston, Texas; three grandchildren: Michael Mendiola and wife, Dianne, Brandon Mendiola and wife, Adriana, Alisa Dabney and husband, Aaron; five great grandchildren:  Megan, Matthew, Ezra, Liam and Emri Mendiola.  

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ida, on June 25, 2006; sister, Mary Burleson; and brother, Sylvester Sklar.  

Visitation was Friday, July 6, 2012 from noon to 8:30 p.m. at Koenig & Strickland Zaskoda Chapel, 2280 Main Street, Industry, Texas. Family received friends from 5 o 8:30 p.m.     

Funeral Services were held at Koenig & Strickland Zaskoda Chapel, Industry, Texas, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 7, 2012.   Burial will follow at Shelby Cemetery.    

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one�s choice.
