GLADYS BERNICE BLASCHKE WARMKE
Bellville Times Gladys Bernice (Blaschke) Warmke, of Bleiblerville, Texas, passed away Friday, October 26, 2012 at Oak Haven Assisted Living in Industry, shortly after celebrating her 100th birthday. Gladys was born Oct. 6, 1912 in New Bremen area of Austin County to Rudolph and Alma (Kellner) Blaschke. On Dec. 2, 1931 she was married to Arnold Warmke at Welcome Lutheran Church. They made their home and farmed in Bleiblerville. She was a member of Welcome Lutheran Church, a 4-H leader, member of TEEA-Texas Extension Education Association (Home Demonstration Club), Bleiblerville Volunteer Fire Department, and Farm Bureau. She was recognized by the TEEA for her 80 years of outstanding membership, leadership and dedication. Her hobbies included fishing at their Matagorda beach house, gardening, canning, quilting, sewing, embroidery, crafts, baking and winning dominos. Gladys was active in Austin County Fair, where she won high point numerous times which included Grand Champion awards on her cakes, candies, canned goods and crafts at the Austin County Fair. She also participated in the Austin County pecan show winning numerous awards. Until recently, she assisted with judging at neighboring county fairs and worked at Schulz General Store in New Ulm, Texas, retiring at the age of 95 which she received the Employee of the Century Award. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Arnold Warmke, on Jan. 15, 1992, brothers Richard Blaschke and Hugo Blaschke, sisters Natalie Peschel, Helen Cline, Norma Krause and Westa Custer, and son Bobby Warmke. Survivors include: son and daughters-in-law, Marvin and Zeta Warmke of Grant, Oklahoma, Verlin Warmke of Brenham; daughters and sons-in-law, Jean and Lee Ehler of LaGrange, Bonnie and David Schulz of New Ulm; grandchildren, Keven and Judy Warmke, Terry Ehler, Robert and Connie Warmke, Kenny and Debbie Warmke, Sally and Don Cotton, Michael Warmke, Dave and T. J. Schulz, Bill and Rose Warmke, Vicki and Glen Spiess, Brian and Kymm Ehler, Jay and Susan Warmke, Kenneth Ehler, Steven and Abigail Ehler; great-grandchildren, Kristi Johnson, Marshall Warmke, Jennifer Holmes, Janice and Justin Schroeder, Shelbi Langley, Nicole and Matt Smith, Garik Cotton, Cody Hawkins, Wesley Warmke, Gregory Cotton, Cate Warmke, April Schulz, Luke Cotton, Morgan Warmke, Samantha Cotton, Caroline Warmke, Levi Hawkins, William Warmke, Jesse Warmke, Austin Ehler, Nicklaus Warmke, Brandul Warmke, Skylar Ehler, Audrey Ehler, Collin Ehler; Colton Warmke, Lauren Ehler, Emily Hendrix, Josh Spiess, Joel and Tammy Spiess, seven great-great grandchildren, sister-in-law Lydia Winkelmann of Brenham, and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation was Sunday, Oc. 28 from 5-7 p.m. at Brenham Memorial Chapel. Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 29 at 10 a.m. at Welcome Lutheran Church with Rev. Michael Groseclose officiating. Pallbearers were Billy Krause, Larry Krueger, Earl �Bobby� Luedeker, Billy Warmke, Darrell Winkelmann, Fred L. Winkelmann, Douglas Warmke, Malcom Krause, and Wilbert Luedeker. Honorary pallbearers were Bleiblerville TEEA Members and nephews. The family would like to offer a special thank you to Lisa Galle, Joan Buenger, Jessica Beamon and the caring staff of Oak Haven Assisted Living for all of your kindness and loving care.
