 Ben Woodrow Woehst, 99 of Bellville passed away Nov. 10, 2012 at Scott & White Hospital in Brenham.

He was born on Janu. 17, 1913, to Herman and Anna Woehst. He attended Bellville schools.

His first job was on a local dairy farm, he also worked many years and is retired from San Bernard Electric Cooperative, Inc. Woodrow was a member of the CCC (Civilian Conservation Corp.), Woodman of the World, the Austin County German Society and was a lifetime member of the Bellville United Methodist Church. He was known for his love of music and dance, especially the polka and enjoyed playing several instruments but was most fluent with the accordion.

Woodrow will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He lived a full life with a great faith in the Lord and a heart for his family, friends, neighbors and community.

Survivors include his wife Alice Repka Woehst, a daughter Carolyn Derkowski of Houston, daughter by marriage Rose Repka DeBlieux and husband John of Brenham, also Cynthia Chavers of Fort Worth. Grandchildren: Lisa and husband Robert Hicks, Mark Derkowski, Susan Derkowski, Cindy Derkowski and Jessica Seiberling. Great-grandchildren: Tyler Flynt, Ashton Flynt, Alica Derkowski, Michael Derkowski, Charles Derkowski, Brian Hicks and Kimberly Hicks. Great-great-grandchildren: Chase and Emmit Phelps and Boderick and Brooklynn Burns.

He is preceded in death by his wife Almeida Eckermann Woehst, parents Anna and Herman Woehst and 9 siblings.

A graveside service was held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012 at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery in Bellville followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. at Bellville United Methodist Church. The family received friends on Monday, Nov. 12, 2012, from 5-7 p.m.

Serving as pallbearers were: Mark Derkowski, Michael Derkowski, Brian Hicks, Ashton Flynt, Tyler Flynt and John DeBlieux.

Memorials may be directed to Bellville United Methodist Church or Brazos Valley Hospice.
