ANITA AUGUSTA HARTMANN MARTENS WOLCHIK
Bellville Times Anita Augusta Hartmann Martens Wolchik was born Nov. 26, 1932, in Cat Spring, the daughter of William and Augusta Daigle Hartmann. She grew up and attended school in Cat Spring. On April 9, 1949, she was united in marriage to Norman Lee Martens, Sr. Anita and Norman made their home in Cat Spring, where they raised their four children, Norma, Carol, Norman, Jr. (Bimbo) and Sharon. Anita and Lee owned Crossroads Tavern from the 1950�s to the early 60�s. They also managed the Milligan Ranch for many years together. Anita was also employed by Superior Furniture in Bellville and retired from the Sealy School District in the 90�s. Anita was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Cat Spring, Sons of Hermann, Cat Spring Agriculture Society, Texas Sportsman�s Association, Austin County Fish and Game and the Coastal Conservation Association. She had a great love for the outdoors and taught her children to love fishing and hunting as much as she did. To this day, all of her children love to hunt and fish. Anita also loved to dance. She spent many of her Saturdays dancing at Cat Spring Hall. And she always had her children with her. If they became tired, she would put them under the bench to sleep. Anita loved going to all the Sealy High School events to support her son, Norman who was a star athlete. When Anita�s first grandchild, Stephanie Falk, was born in 1971, she introduced her beautiful granddaughter to football by taking her to the games. Anita loved her grandchildren dearly and Stephanie was the first followed by nine more over the next years. Anita was blessed with eighteen great grandchildren. The youngest, Channing Field, is 2 years old. And though she loved working in her garden and tending to her animals, Anita�s greatest passion was her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She treasured the time she got to spend fishing with them, just sitting around talking, or cooking one of her tasty meals fresh out of her garden. On Aug. 15, 2001, Anita lost her husband of 52 years, Norman Lee Martens, Sr. She was blessed to find Earl Wolchik, and on February 21, 2005, they were married. Anita and Earl enjoyed traveling and square dancing with the Bellville Bluebonnet Square Dance Club. They spent their evenings at home being entertained by Cha-Cha, Anita�s little black poodle, enjoying a cold beer and watching the deer come to the feeders. Anyone that happened to come by was invited to join them with a cold one. Anita passed away Monday, October 8, 2012, at the Bellville General Hospital at the age of 79 years, 10 months and 12 days. She is survived by her husband of seven years Earl Wolchik of Cat Spring; children Norma Jean Thompson and her husband, John, of Katy, Carol Ann McNett and her husband, Mike, also of Katy, Norman (Bimbo) Lee Martins, Jr. and his wife, Mary, of San Antonio, and Sharon Kay Goebel and her husband, Gordon, of Millheim; grandchildren Terrie Broussard, Jeannie Logan, Brian Flentge and his wife, Jennifer, Misty Craig and her husband, Dan, Stephanie Falk and her husband, Dusty, Donna Field and her husband, Darren, Jessica Maxwell and her husband, Martin, Meta Martens, Wesley Goebel and his wife, Mandy, and Randy Goebel and his wife, Genevieve; great grandchildren Caleb Hutchinson, Tyler Logan, Cade Flentge, Abby Craig, Adam Craig, Brianna Coleman, Russell Coleman, Axel Coleman, Katie Falk, Kortney Falk, Max Field, Ethan Field, Channing Field, Cierra Maxwell, Deavyn Maxwell, Savannah Goebel, Sailor Goebel, and Scarlett Goebel. Anita also had many other nieces and nephews that she enjoyed spending time with. Visitation was held Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012, from 4-7 p.m., at the Schmidt Funeral Home Chapel in Bellville. Funeral Service was held at 10 a.m., Friday, Oct. 12, 2012, at St. John Lutheran Church in Cat Spring with Pastor Kevin Haug officiating. Interment followed in the Cat Spring Cemetery. Pallbearers were Wesley Goebel, Brian Flentge, Randy Goebel, Mark Miller, Tommy Janosky and Robert Hartmann. Honorary Pallbearers were Jason Barrett, Larry Miller, Gary Miller, Neil Ling, Benny Janosky, Rayford Janosky, Billy Frank Imhoff, Teddy Bob Imhoff, Martin Maxwell and Dusty Falk.
