Mrs. Birdie Lee Stokes
In the year of our Lord, 1917, a baby girl was born to the late Mr. and Mrs. James Rodgers in
Washington County, Texas. She was reared and attended the local school in Austin County.
She professed in Christ at an early age under the Pastor McDade and untied with the Methodist
Church and continued until death. She had no special place for worship.
She married Mr. Ennis Stokes in 1934. To this union one child was born.
Sister Birdie Lee Stokes passed away January 26, 1983 at 7:15 in her home. She was preceded in
death by one child, mother and father, two sisters and two brothers.
She leaves to mourn her passing her husband; four granddaughters; five great granddaughters; two
brothers; three sisters; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral Service: Sunday, January 30, 1983, 1:00 p.m.,
Jackson A.M.E. Church, Kenney, Texas, Reverend James Alexander, officiating.

Interment: Kenney Cemetery, Kenney, Texas
