Welcome to Lee County Texas

High Prairie Cemetery

To preserve the history of old country cemeteries from being lost the below was taken from LEE COUNTY TEXAS CEMETERIES Volume I.  You can buy copies at Texas Wendish Heritage Society

These directions were taken in Feb. 1980, so they may not be completely accurate as of today, 4/25/2022.

Take FM 141 from Giddings for 10.9 miles, turn left on CR 122 for  on 1.8 miles to cemetery right.

Mr. Joe Beaman gave 2 acres of land, 1 for school and  1 for cemetery.  The school was established in 1909, different denomations of church services were also held in the school building.  The school was later moved to the highway and this acre reverted back to the family.  The school was located west of the cemetery under a large oak tree, now an oil field road.

This list is NOT near complete!!!! yes I need help.
