Welcome to Newton County, Texas Garlington and Ferguson FamiliesSubmitted by John Varnell I'm a direct decedent of Olley A Ferguson on my father's mother's side and Benjamin Garlington on my mother's mother's side of the family. As such Fergusons have also married Lowe's and Hines. The Fergusons and the Garlington's joined not only when my mother married my father but when Selendra Garlington married William Martin Ferguson. They are buried just over the county line in the Oakhill Cemetery in Yellowpine, Sabine County, Tx. Here is a link to my family tree in MyHeratige: Varnell Family Tree Website Below, you can see where I've outlined the Moore Plantation WMA and highlighted with the big blue flag where Olley A Ferguson's Patent Land Grant was. The big red flag is where Benjamin Garlington's Land was and the Garlington Family Cemetery is. ![]() Here are some links describing the Garlington's presence in Newton County: Benjamin Garlington on WikiTree Benjamin Garlington on Find A Grave Memorials in Garlington Cemetery on Find A Grave Caroline Vick Garlington on Find A Grave History of the Baptist Church in Sabine Parish, Louisiana Ferguson History: Inventory of the county archives of Texas : Sabine County, no. 202 Page: 8 Olly A.
