William "Billy" Bates
William W. “Billy” Bates was born in 1847 in Georgia and died June 4, 1930 in Shelby County, Texas. He is buried at Jackson Cemetery in Joaquin, Texas. His Confederate pension was filed in Panola County after moving to the Carthage area. Billy was the son of David who died about three years after Billy was born in Coweta County Georgia. His Mother, Rebecca C. Smith then married John M. Welch who is buried in Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Billy had one brother who also was born in Georgia in 1843 and married Susan Jane Inman of Shelby County
Larkin was born in Shelby County September 24,
1877 and died May 14, 1931 and is buried in Jackson Cemetery in Joaquin, Texas.
Larkin married Susan Tempie McKenzie on November 21, 1900 in
Shelby County. To this union, eight
children were born.
