Sara Katherine Kellogg Morton
Obituary

Sara Katherine Morton passed away on March 11, 2013, after a brief illness. She was born September 1, 1924 in Belton, TX, the daughter of O. H. and Erline Kellogg.

She was a graduate of Lamar High School in Houston and the University of Texas in Austin. She married John Davis (Jack) Morton in 1945. They lived in several states in their early marriage, finally settling in the Houston/Conroe area in 1965. Katherine was honored to have the jobs of mother and homemaker.

She loved to swim and played tennis until the age of 80. Her other interests included genealogy, sewing, and needlepoint. She was active in her church, the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Daughters of the Republic of Texas, and the River Plantation Garden Club, and was a member of the Colonial Dames and the Huguenot Society. She volunteered for many years in the genealogy section of the Montgomery County Library. She was proud to be able to trace her lineage to the Austin family of early Texas.

She is survived by her husband of 67 years, three sons; Davis (Susan) Morton, Richard (Connie) Morton and Harold (Shelley) Morton; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 27th at The Woodlands United Methodist Church, 2200 Lake Woodlands Dr., The Woodlands, TX. Memorials may be sent to the The Woodlands United Methodist Church Foundation.
