Pegasus Neon Sign Restored

A Pegasus neon advertising sign, the flying red horse symbol associated with Mobil Oil Company before the merger with Exxon, has been fully restored at installed along Interstate 45 at the Heritage Museum of Montgomery County, located at 1506 I-45 North in Conroe. The neon sign was at the Mobil station operated by Russ Clanton at the corner of Phillips and Frazier Street in the 1950s (shown at left). It was later donated to the museum by the family of Bill Conroe. Pictured above with other Mobil memorabilia, from left, are Sally Copley, director of the museum; Margaret Melinder, assistant director and board members Carolyn Walker and Jean Barnhill.
