Town of Decker Prairie, Montgomery County Texas

Decker Prairie
From a Traveler's Guide to Historic Montgomery County
1836-1986, Texas Sesquicentennial Edition

In the early 1830s, Canadian-born Isaac Decker migrated from Travis County, where Indians were raising havoc. Decker settled on 177 acres north of Spring Creek, now known as Decker Prairie. Rich timberland allowed for the growth of the sawmills. As many as five at one time were operating. Arrowheads from Indian Villages along Mill Creek can still be found.
