Bricker Papers:

John Bricker, His Land, His Heirs & Oil

from the Vertical Files of Montgomery County Memorial Library, Genealogy Dept.

The file has tons more information on births, deaths, military service of descendants.

As background here are excerpts from a letter to Barbara Cheshier from the Sandra Burrell of Texas State Library, dated 30 August 2000:

..."My resources state that the heirs of John Bricker were given 960 acres for John's service military service to the Republic of Texas in its war of independence with Mexico. The land was awarded to the heirs in 1845. The record states that the land was in Montgomery and San Jacinto counties. These counties lie adjacent to each other. In fact, San Jacinto county was organized in 1869 from these counties, (formerly part of the Atascosito District) Liberty , Montgomery, Polk and Walker. So in 1845, the property was considered to be in Montgomery County...

John Bricker came to Texas from Tennessee. He owned 109 acres in Washington County, Tennessee in 1814 according to the book, Early East Tennessee Tax Lists, by Mary Barnett Curtis...According to the Marriage Record of Washington County Tennessee, 1787-1840, John Bricker married E. Sisk on November 18, 1839..."

Below is a listing from the
